Prospective candidates in a federal election must submit the names, addresses, and signatures of 100 electors consenting to their candidacy, to the returning officer for the electoral district in which they wish to run.
Individuals who consent to the candidacy of Emily Brown for the Burlington Riding may do so by signing the declaration in the presence of a witness, who must then complete the “Witness to signature” section. The form must then be returned to the candidate so they may include it in their submission to the returning officer.
Note: Digital signatures are not accepted for the purpose of this document. The elector and witness must both apply “wet ink” signatures.
If you are a qualified elector and reside in the electoral district mentioned above you may sign the declaration. (A qualified elector is a Canadian citizen who will be 18 or older on election day.)
The witness must use due diligence to ensure that the elector consenting to the candidacy resides in the electoral district of Burlington. The witness to the signature supporting a candidate is not required to be a qualified elector in an electoral district.
To request a Signature sheet, contact us or email us and we will send you the form and make arrangements with you for pick up or drop off of your signed & witnessed declaration form.
