OTTAWA – Rona Ambrose, the Leader of the Official Opposition and interim Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, issued the following statement regarding the terror attacks in Brussels, Belgium this morning.

“I was horrified to learn of the terrorist attacks this morning on the airport and transit system in Brussels, Belgium. Once again, on the home soil of a Canadian friend and ally, terrorists have killed dozens of innocent people and wounded even more, as they sought to do nothing more than go about their daily lives in peace. Most of us can only imagine the uncertainty and pain facing the families and loved ones of those killed or injured. We grieve with them and extend our deepest condolences and prayers.

“An attack like this reinforces our resolve as Canadians to stand up to this scourge; to root out terrorist networks; and to take the fight to those who wish to do us harm. We also thank our defence and security forces who work so bravely and tirelessly to keep us safe at home and abroad.

“On behalf of the Official Opposition and the Conservative Party of Canada, I condemn these attacks, and vow to continue to stand with our allies in Belgium and around the world.”
