Statement by the Leader of the Official Opposition on MP Deepak Obhrai announcing intention to seek Conservative Party Leadership

OTTAWA, ON – Rona Ambrose, Leader of the Official Opposition and interim Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, issued the following statement today on the Honourable Deepak Obhrai’s announced intention to seek the Conservative Party of Canada leadership:

“Deepak will be a strong, experienced addition to the Conservative Party’s leadership race, bringing the perspective of nearly two decades of service to his constituents and all Canadians. I, along with all Conservatives, welcome Deepak to the leadership race and look forward to his contribution to it.

“Effective immediately, MP Dean Allison will assume the role of Official Opposition Critic for International Development.”
